- Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull confirms federal government commitment to a Fast Train to Greater Western Sydney
- Sydney Olympic Park earmarked as a stop on the route between Sydney CBD - Parramatta - Western Sydney Airport
- High-speed train service would further complement NSW Government commitment to redevelop ANZ Stadium
ANZ Stadium Managing Director Daryl Kerry has welcomed the Federal Government's commitment to a Fast Train line linking Greater Western Sydney with the Sydney CBD.
Mr Kerry said a Fast Train route providing high-speed public transport connectivity would maximise the potential of Western Sydney, Australia's fastest growing region.
He said sports and entertainment fans would be among the big winners of a Fast Train, with Sydney Olympic Park earmarked as a stop on the route between Sydney CBD, Parramatta and the Western Sydney Airport at Badgerys Creek.
Speaking at the “Out There” Summit hosted by the Western Sydney Leadership Dialogue at Western Sydney University, Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull announced today his Government's commitment to a Fast Train route to the Western Sydney Airport.
"Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull's commitment to the Fast Train concept for Sydney promises to maximise the true potential of the Greater Sydney area," Mr Kerry said.
"A Fast Train route that includes Sydney Olympic Park has the potential to move thousands of sports fans from the CBD to Sydney's Olympic stadium in under 10 minutes, and provide fast access to the Stadium for the rapidly expanding population of Greater Western Sydney.
"When you combine the prospect of a Fast Train route with the transformational WestConnex Motorway and the announced Western Sydney Light Rail service - plus significant development in the Sydney Olympic Park precinct - you can clearly see the vision for the Olympic Corridor and the Greater Western Sydney area."
Mr Kerry said the Federal Government's commitment to a high-speed train service would further complement the NSW Government's commitment to redevelop ANZ Stadium, as part of the biggest investment in NSW sporting infrastructure since the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
The NSW Government also recently announced that the Western Sydney Light Rail project would be fast-tracked and connect Parramatta with Sydney Olympic Park and Strathfield,
The NSW Government has further announced access roads both in and out of Sydney Olympic Park from the widened M4 motorway that will connect Sydney CBD and Parramatta in one continuous freeway.
Mr Kerry congratulated the NSW and Federal Governments, the Sydney Business Chamber and the Western Sydney Leadership Dialogue for continuing to work toward transformational solutions for thriving Greater Western Sydney.
