SKY BLUES TO DO AUSTRALIA PROUD IN TWO OF SYDNEY'S GREATEST FOOTBALL BLOCKBUSTERS
17 May 2015
SYDNEY FC’s A-League Grand Final appearance has set the scene for two of Sydney’s biggest sporting events of the year – back-to-back football classics against English Premier League clubs Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea FC.
Despite their A-League Grand Final heartbreak in Melbourne, Sydney FC will have tens of thousands of fans standing proud when they take to the pitch for the AIA Cup football classic against Tottenham Hotspur at ANZ Stadium on Saturday 30 May.
It will be a celebration of an outstanding 2014/15 season for Sydney FC, who will be up against a young and hungry Spurs team led by EPL Young Player of the Year Harry Kane and fellow superstars Christian Eriksen, Hugo Lloris, Erik Lamela and Ryan Mason. Spurs will be making their first visit to Sydney in 30 years.
Just 72 hours later, Sydney FC will take part in an Australian football first – English Premier League Champions v A-League Grand Finalists, Chelsea FC v Sydney FC, Blues v Sky Blues – at ANZ Stadium on Tuesday 2 June. Having just wrapped up the EPL title, Chelsea will be making their first Australian appearance in 41 years – and they will be bringing the Premier League Trophy with them to ANZ Stadium!
All this following hot on the heels of rugby league’s night of nights – State of Origin I at ANZ Stadium on Wednesday 27 May.
